Home Maintenance Tips | April 2025
Spring is in full swing, and that means it’s time to get your home ready for the warmer (and still rainy) months ahead. Regular maintenance now can prevent costly repairs later. If you need a recommendation for any of these services, reach out to the team anytime!
Clean and Inspect Gutters
Winter storms may have left debris in your gutters. Clear out leaves and moss to ensure proper drainage and check for any leaks or sagging sections.
2. Check Your Roof for Damage
Look for missing or damaged shingles, moss growth, and any signs of leaks. In our damp climate, moss buildup can be a real problem, so consider applying a moss treatment if needed.
3. Service Your Lawn Equipment
Before you start mowing regularly, make sure your lawn mower is in good shape. Sharpen the blades, change the oil, and clean the air filter.
4. Check and Repair Exterior Caulking
Inspect windows, doors, and any exterior penetrations for cracked or missing caulk. Resealing helps keep moisture out and improves energy efficiency.
5. Inspect Your Fence and Deck
Winter moisture can take a toll on wood fences and decks. Look for loose boards, rot, or peeling paint/stain. Consider pressure washing and resealing if necessary.
6. Prepare Your Garden Beds
It’s time to weed, trim back overgrown plants, and add fresh mulch to help retain moisture and suppress weeds.
7. Wash Windows and Screens
Spring cleaning isn’t just for inside! Wash your windows and clean or replace damaged screens to keep fresh air flowing inside.
8. Clean Dryer Vents
Lint buildup in dryer vents can become a fire hazard. Disconnect the vent hose and remove any accumulated lint.
Taking care of these tasks now will keep your home in great shape throughout the season. Need a local recommendation? We’re happy to connect you with our list of partners we trust!
